1:16 scale diecast model.

Replica from the Trans-Antarctic Expedition

Affectionately christened 'Sue', this TEA-20 was the lead vehicle among 3 slightly modified tractors in the Sir Edmund Hillary historical expedition to the South Pole which was successfully accomplished on 4th January 1958.

Equipped with special rubber tracks, the steering was locked and the change of direction was made possible by braking the appropriate rear wheel. Another modification was the fitting of a rudimentary cab out of tarpaulin to give the driver some protection from the wind and the cold. Heavy duty batteries were also fitted with simple wooden top covers.

These tractors were painted red to make them easier to spot in the snow and they were all given female names. Sue was eventually returned to Coventry in 1965 and is now on display in the Massey Ferguson Technology Centre in Beauvais, France.

This toy is a collectable, not intended for small children.
